Educational athletics are a vital component of the overall educational experiences for many students. At its best, athletic competition provides students with special opportunities to learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, ethical conduct, fair play and respect for others. Because state law gives school district governing boards responsibility for ensuring that high school athletic programs serve their students well, this book educates board members and superintendents about how CIF works; how school districts can positively impact local and statewide decision-making concerning athletics; how to keep current on athletic-related issues; and where to go for information about specific athletic rules or policies.
