Creating A Healthier School Environment

The October 2007 School Wellness Conference was an unqualified success! This inaugural event brought together public health, school health, school nutrition, physical activity/physical education, superintendents, parents, students, school administrators and school board members who are passionate about improving our schools and the lives of California’s public school children. As a result of interest and ongoing concern for student health and the link to learning, CSBA is:

  • Expanding their wellness Web presence
  • Planning another School Wellness Conference for 2009.

The California School Boards Association, the California Department of Education and California Department of Public Health, present a groundbreaking statewide effort to improve the learning environments and overall healthy eating and physical education of public school children in our state. The 2007 School Wellness Conference will lead toward a cultural shift for healthier school environments and kids by highlighting:

  • best practices and resources
  • statewide success stories and model program workshops
  • healthy nutrition environments and quality physical education programs
  • sample district policies that promote health on school campuses
  • strategies to help schools succeed in implementing and evaluating their local school wellness policy

Join others who are passionate about improving our schools and the lives of California's public school children. School board members, superintendents, food service directors, school nurses, teachers, administrators, parents, students and others involved in the implementation of the district’s wellness policies are encouraged to attend this inaugural conference.
